About Us

Sustainable Woodstock's Swap Shops

Our forth Swap Shop was held on 1st October 2011 and we successfully swapped electrical items, small furniture, household goods, books, sports equipment, a bike, gardening bits and bobs including some heavy flower pots, magazines and toys.

Our Third Annual Swap Shop was held on Saturday 22nd January 2011.
Never throw away your "stuff".  Someone will make good use of it.  One of our Swap Shop visitors said that last year, January 2010, she took away some rolls of wallpaper.  Two kind friends from her church came round and put it up for her and she says it looks lovely.

We saved at least 176.3 kgs of stuff that would otherwise have ended up in landfill.  We also took along 3 boxes to the Sue Ryder Charity Shop and some further items were left for the Youth Club Jumble Sale on 26th March.

We had over 50 visitors signing in but there were more.  They came from Woodstock, Kidlingtone, Begbroke,
Long Hanborough, Witney, Yarnton, Charlbury, Bladon, Duns  Tew, and Cassington.  Many commented that we should run more, perhaps every six months instead of once a year.

Items swapped ranged from desks, chairs, books, toys, umbrellas, deck chairs, picture frames, electricals, rolling pins, tennis rackets, magazines, steamer, BBQ, garden hose, brass kettle, scanner, computer hard drives, a chocolate fountain, jewellery, peacock feathers, pot holders, wine racks, paper shredder, mats, toolkit, etc, etc.

Everyone seemed to enjoy a great social occasion with Fairtrade tea, coffee and biscuits and there were lots of requests for us to run the event more often.

Look out for us on Central South TV later in the week - (w/e 29th Jan 2011)
