Woodstock's Partners

Wake Up to Woodstock
www.wakeuptowoodstock.com is the principal
trade association operating in the town, and we are pleased to have their
support. WUTW has over 50 members representing such diverse business
interests as Blenheim Palace, specialist shops serving the town's tourist
trade, the hospitality sector, convenience stores, the service sector, and
other non retail businesses. What they all have in common are a desire
to promote Woodstock as a town to be enjoyed by visitors and residents
alike.

The Marlborough
School
http://www.marlborough.oxon.sch.uk/ is a mixed comprehensive for boys and girls aged 11 to 18.
It has strong links with the local community and, as
a Church of England school,
is involved with local churches and other faith groups. As a specialist
school in Business and Enterprise, and Humanities, the school has
developed links with local businesses,
industry and universities, which creates a wide range of extra
opportunities for students and the community. The school has a
strong ethical tradition and has pioneered sustainability issues.
The
Woodstock
Church of England Primary School
http://www.woodstock.oxon.sch.uk/ encourages its pupils to be creative,
thoughtful and independent
learners. It is a community
built on Christian values where children learn tolerance and respect,
the ideal ethos for sustainability and the nurture of planet earth.
We want today's primary school
children to be the driving
force of Sustainable Woodstock in the future.

Churches Together
http://www.churches-together.net/ is an ecumenical group in Woodstock who have pledged their
support to the principles of Sustainable Woodstock and, where appropriate, have
agreed to work with us on specific projects.

Blenheim Palace
http://www.blenheimpalace.com/ needs no introduction.
Blenheim is a big business, but they are not above looking at
their carbon footprint and investigating sustainable solutions to the running of
their enterprise. Blenheim are working with The Carbon Trust and DEFRA towards
reducing their CO2 emissions and have already made significant
progress.

The Oxfordshire Museum
www.tomocc.org.uk is at the
heart of Woodstock's cultural life. Housed in the historic Fletcher's
House (a property dating from the sixteenth century and originally occupied by
one, Thomas Fletcher). It was bought by the Oxfordshire County Council in
1949 first as a fire station and latterly as the headquarters of its Museum
Services. We are delighted to have the support of The Oxfordshire Museum.

Woodstock@900
is a celebration of 900 years from the time of the enclosure of the great park
at Woodstock by Henry II. The royal park, of course, went on to become the
present day Blenheim Palace and Park. 2010 marks the 900 years and
Sustainable Woodstock, the Town Council and others will be enjoying a year of
celebratory events to mark this milestone. One project which Sustainable
Woodstock is particularly supporting is the establishment of a Community
Woodland where we will plant 900 trees. More details will be available on
this website as the ideas are developed.

The
Farmers Market http://www.tvfm.org.uk/ operates on the first Saturday of every month on Woodstock's town
square. Farmers Markets are themselves sustainable enterprises growing and
selling produce locally.
